Designers Stephanie Forsythe and Todd MacAllen have an answer to the renewable materials used to make furniture. The “Kraft Paper Softseating” made from natural heavy weight fire retardant Kraft paper and is not intended to be disposable, or thought of for short term use. The paper in fact “gets better with age as the surface texture of the paper edges softens with use over time into a pleasing natural patina”. Softseating uses embedded magnetic connectors to fan open into stool or lounges or to link to one another to form winding benches creating endless possibilities. Available in Natural Brown and Deep Black. The Tafoni Floating Home by Joanna Borek Clement was designed to change peoples minds about living in a house boat. The ultra modern design of the Tafoni may be enough to sway many of us not to mention the possibilities including no property taxes and the ability to move on command. The 89 square meters of living space is divided into three main areas including a kitchen, living and bedroom. The center of the boat containing the kitchen features a sun room to help keep things nice a well lighted without burning energy. Wei who presented this concept at the Relax Design Competition. It has been dubbed the “Cloud Sofa” around the web where it perhaps has already popped onto your radar. The design itself is neat in that a magnetic field supports the seating and keeps it floating.
